I use lip balm, but my lips are still dry. Why?

Have you ever experienced this? No matter how much you use lip balm, your lips are still chapped and dry.

It might be because your lip balm contains an allergen. Let’s take a look at what substances should be avoided so that you can choose the right lip balm next time!

Substances you should avoid are:

  1. Perfume: Perfume added in a lip balm will make your lips drier. Perfume makes the skin lose moisture more easily and it can cause an allergic reaction and irritation to the upper skin layer.
  2. Camphor, Phenol, and Menthol: They can cause skin inflammation.
  3. Eucalyptus extract oil or Peppermint: Though they are natural extracts, they can cause side effects and irritation.

If you use your lip balm too often during the day, it means the balm you use might even make your lips drier. So, we recommend you use a lip balm that doesn’t contain harmful substances to bring back softness and moisture to your lips.
